For a few years, I painted the same image over and over, the weave of canvas enormously magnified. I thought of it as a net to catch mortality in. Museum London has two of them, White Threads of the Waterfall and There was a Father. (The titles are taken from Japanese films) Robert McKaskell once did an exhibition at Museum London in which one painting was featured. He switched it for the other halfway through the exhibition, knowing that no-one would notice.
